okay, listen, it’s unlikely that i’ll ever write this. not because of lack of interest, but because i feel like i shouldn’t. But I wanna share it anyway.
Back during the world war 2 (yes lmao this again), the Japanese unit 731 based in Manchuria did terrible things to Chinese civilians and soldiers, experimenting on them in ways that are too horrific for me to even list here. The leader of this unit was Shiro Ishii (a lot can be said about Ishii, but lemme just say that his main ambition in life was to develop biological weapons, and he was 100% cool with experimenting on people of all ages for that cause).
Now, before I got back to studying the 2nd world war, I was working on this table of fanfiction themes I wanna write about (i can post that table here if anyone wants to use it?), and one of the themes is reincarnation. And while I don’t think it’s appropriate to use IRL characters like that in fanfiction, there’re plenty of fictional bad people to pick from.
So far when I read fics that feature reincarnation, it’s always someone who used to be great. Like idk Salazar Slytherin, Vongola Primo.. etc.
So, I was thinking… what if Tsuna reincarnated from someone absolutely awful? And he struggles with that because he sometimes dreams of the terrible things his past self did, and it’s hard to draw a line between the things he would and wouldn’t do since he’s now someone completely different. And like, he has so many issues stemming from the guilt he feels, and when Reborn comes to make him a mafia boss Tsuna is terrified because he doesn’t want to become the person he used to be in the earlier life.
And just like…. struggle. A cliched internal struggle of the intent to do good despite potential for great evil. I really want that.
